Caprice - SistersimplictyRussian ensemble Caprice have set the poems of Shelley, Byron, Burns, Wordsworth and Shakespeare lyrics to music. I don't doubt the huge talent of the group, but I am sorry Sistersimplicty simply left me cold. Musically the band are very accomplished but the passion isn't there. It sounds like they have done this CD for their college homework. Remember Lord Byron was 'mad, bad and dangerous' to know. The Romantics were rebellious, and chaotic, whilst particularly in the case of Shelley and Byron, they were only accepted by respectable society one they were dead. Caprice have made Shelley, Byron et al sound and prim and proper, and I resent that. For more information go to www.prikosnovenie.com (review by Mike Shankland) |
