Daemonia Nymphe - Daemonia Nymphe

The core of
Daemonia
Nymphe are two multi instrumentalists living in Athens,
Spyros Giasafakis and Evi Stiergiou. They aim to recreate the
sound of Greek Antiquity, using specific instruments modelled on
ancient Hellenic models, and sing in both ancient and modern
Greek . Attracting increased interest in Europe due to their
enchanting music and a dedication to their historical vision, it
is a pleasure to announce the release of their first CD on the
French label Prikosnovenie. Working on such a unique project
means that the music of Daemonia Nymphe is not easily described
with reference to other artists' work. The strength of the band
is that they combine skilled and subtle musicianship along with
precise rhythms, veering in scope from almost dream-like
pleasantness (so evident in tracks such as 'Summoning Divine
Selene') through to mesmerising dance ('Hymn to Bacchus').
Daemonia Nymphe invoke a romantic vision of Ancient Greece which
embraces more than the pastoral idyll which inspired the English
poets of the 19th century, but one that draws on the dynamic of
classical Paganism, and the intricate esoteric mysteries of the
loss of self, associated with Dionysius and Pan. Their work is a
fitting tribute to the impact Hellenic culture has had on
Europe.
The self-titled CD is released on Prikosnovenie. The band do no
have their own website but Spyros can be contacted at
