David Wells - Drone Works # 9

This is the ninth in the drone works series from Twenty Hertz following releases from Colin Potter, Paul Bradley, irr.app(ext) and Andrew Liles amongst others. On droneworks # 9 Wells opts for an assortment of varied sounds and atmospheres. It's a measured approach that works surprisingly well from a gradual fade-up to metallic buzzing before dissipating into a fluttering drone that provides the main thrust of the track. There's a minor aquatic theme throughout from the sound of running water midway to the distant sounds of lapping waves on the seashore that predominate towards the end of the piece before a cold drone closes this evocative release.
