Derniere Volonté - Les Blessures de
L'ombre
Derniere
Volonté seem to pick up on a lot of eighties
electronics, combine it with martial percussion and stern
vocalisations.
Les Blessures de L'ombre is their second
(or third?) CD following on from their
Le Feux Sacre
release on Hau Ruck. Amidst the genre the sound of Derniere
Volonté is quite unique and very enjoyable. The martial
percussion provides an urgency and Geoffroy possesses a strong
melodic voice. There's little bombast within the music preferring
soft melodies and the occasional ambient and symphonic
interludes. 'Ton Visage De Papier' mixes accordion sounds with
symphonic interludes and unremitting drum beats.
Les Blessures
de L'ombre features collaborations with Albin and Marthyana
of Der Blutharsch on 'Vienna' (no, not that one - thankfully) a
cold electronic track where the trio of voices converge. Fellow
Hau Ruck comrades His Divine Grace feature on the shimmering
'Souvenirs de Demain'. With its melodic vocal, jaunty marching
drum beats and warm keyboard sounds, 'Si...' does really deserve
the military pop appellation. For the uninitiated Derniere
Volonté combine the percussion driven sounds of
Allerseelen, the martial aspect of Der Blutharsch with a sort of
pop sensibility. Collectors should note that
Les Blessures de
L'ombre is also available as a white vinyl edition with a
one-sided seven-inch single. But given their reputation they're
probably long gone. For more information go to
