GOR - Croissades

GOR featuring Naples based singer/multi instrumentalist Francesco Banchini has released a series of fascinating CDs on French label Prikosnovenie, which highlight his pre-occupations with theology, esoteric history, and the music of the southern and eastern Mediterranean. For some time Francesco has been interested in the history of the Cathars of the Languedoc region of France, who were destroyed by the Roman Catholic church in the 13th century. On Croissades Francesco has taken some medieval - mainly 13th century religious lyrics - and set them to music, using traditional instruments. Once again Francesco has produced work of great quality and imagination. As with all GOR releases, Francesco is completely devoted to his vision, and the result is very inspiring.
