GOR - Qumran

GOR feature Francesco Banchini a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist based in Naples. Qumran is his fourth CD, and named after the region where the mystic Essenes once lived. It is probably his most accomplished project to date. Using very complicated Arabic rhythms with obscure string instruments, devotional chants in different languages, flute and clarinet, the final result is extraordinary. His work is demanding to listen to and not instantly accessible but persevere and one finds pieces of great charm : When Qumran peaks with highlights such as 'Layela', 'Magnificat' and 'Kavod', a real haunting beauty emerges.
