Goem - Disco
Disco is the latest in a
long line of releases from Goem, a trio featuring Peter
Duimelinks, Roel Meelkop, and Frans de Waard. Between them they
also record as Beequeen, Kapotte Muziek, and THU 20. Goem allows
the trio to use raw electronic sound. The sound of Disco is
literally a stripped down version of techno. Obviously we're
taking about the harder and harsher ends of the techno spectrum.
Source material is looped, layered, and mixed with pulses and
clicks. Earlier releases have appeared on labels such as
Rastermusic and Mego so that may provide an indication on what
Goem are about. Yet
Disco still betrays a sterile
industrialised feel that varies in volume and intensity that
almost puts it on a par with Pan Sonic. Which is always welcome,
