Marspiter - Vigila

Vigila from Marspiter comprises ritual ambience with an apocalyptic folk sensibility. 'Life Is War' headlines the sleeve notes for Vigila which honours the war god Mars and the sacrificial feast of Armilustrum. This is a sombre CD featuring slow paced dirges and gothic chants with spartan timpani drum beats. It's a barren windswept soundscape conveying the sounds of a mythical battlefield. This is the sort of thing that would reside well on Albin Julius' HauRuck imprint but Vigila is released on the American dark ambient label Somnambulant Corpse but the martial ritual overtones will undoubtedly stir the hearts of those instilled with the warrior ethic.
