Dead People on Stylish Chairs is the debut CD of electronica from Portugese artist Sci Fi Industries. Dead People on Stylish Chairs features a maelstrom of bubbling analogue propelled along by varied electronic rhythms. There's melodic sweeps and deep bass rumblings and occasionally it adopts drum'n'bass rhythms but for some reason it fails to hold my attention throughout. Perhaps the electronics are too clean, the rhythms too clumsy and at times already dated. It's competent stuff but it just doesn't stand out enough to make an impression amongst numerous other releases, and despite the concessions to techno and drum'n'bass rhythms Dead People On Stylish Chairs is basically a contemporary electronica release.
